Provident Metals is a leading dealer of international and domestic bullion, operating an e-commerce website where the public can buy gold, silver and other precious metal products. Provident Metals stocks a full range of precious metal products from both government mints and private mints. It also offers IRA-investing services. The company slogan is “The People’s Bullion Dealer.”

The company also operates Provident Mint, which has produced a number of limited runs of gold, silver and copper rounds—most notably its Egyptian Gods series and the apocalyptic Zombucks series. Provident Metals also sells its own brand of silver bars in various denominations stamped with the Provident Metals logo. Provident Mint at one point operated out of a 30,000 square foot facility in Dallas, Texas.

Provident was founded in 2009. For a time it operated as a subsidiary of private mint Elemetal. Elemetal was a dominant force in the bullion production industry until it was brought down by a scandal involving employees facilitating the importation of illegally mined gold from South American drug cartels. In 2017, Provident Metals was sold to a private investment group. The company entered a contract with Dillon Gage Metals, a precious metal wholesale firm, to oversee management until 2022.

Provident Metals maintains an A- rating from the Better Business Bureau, and an average three out of five star user review rating on the site. The company has an average of more than four out of five starts on both Facebook and Google.

As one of the internet’s largest sellers of bullion, the company has many satisfied customers that attest to the quality of products and ease of doing business. It also has its share of unhappy customers who have made plenty of complaints about customer service and shipping issues that is typical of large organizations.

While Provident Metals may have had its ups and downs, overall we feel that the company is a reliable dealer of precious metal products.

Provident Metals Claim to Fame

Provident Metals is perhaps best known for minting the zombie apocalypse themed series of silver and copper rounds known as the Zombucks series. These coins were engraved with reimagined renditions of classic American coins featuring living dead versions of figures such as Lady Liberty and the American Buffalo. Dubbed the “currency of the apocalypse” a total of 10 designs were released through 2015 in both 1 ounce copper and silver versions. The Zombucks series coins feature a biohazard symbol on the reverse side of the coin.
