The obverse features Liberty with her hair in a cloth cap secured by a band inscribed LIBERTY, with tresses flowing down to her shoulders. Her bust is draped in a cloth or gown secured by a clasp or brooch. Seven stars are to the left, and six to the right, the date is below.

The reverse depicts an eagle perched on a olive branch and holding arrows, E PLURIBUS UNUM is on a scroll above and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and 10C. appear around the border.

There are 2 design Types for this coin. The Type 1, Large Dentils (1809-1828), and the Type 2, Small Dentils (1828-1837).

Coin Values: For the Type 1 coins mintage was inconsistent with a couple of years missed.  Coins can be found graded Good to AU. Type 2 coins were minted in large quantities and are widely available in Good to AU. A slabbed 1814 AU58 sold for $15,750 in 2020. While a slabbed 1830 Good-4 sold for $50.
