The Classic Head bust coin featured a traditional maiden with a ribbon binding her long, curly hair with the words LIBERTY on the band as previous bust coins. There are 13 stars around the edge with the date below the bust. The reverse is the same as the previous bust coins but the E PLURIBUS UNUM in a bar just over the eagle is not present, so that people could tell the difference between the new and old coins.

Coin Values:  There was only one year, 1838-C, with a low mintage of 7,880 pieces and is highly sought after. Those that are available are graded usually XF to MS. A 1839-C AU58 Gold $2.5 Classic Bust sold for $15,250, while a 1839-D MS62 Gold $2.5 Classic Bust $49,500.
