The obverse of the coin depicts a Native American, facing right, the inscription “LIBERTY” on the top right. The year of mintage on the bottom left, and below that the letter F for Fraser are on the bottom left. The mint mark is above and to the left of the year.
The reverse features a Buffalo facing left, the inscription UNITED·STATES·OF·AMERICA along the top and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM above the buffalo’s lower back, on the bottom of the coin in the mound is inscribed $50 1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD. The motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, appearing on all U.S. gold coins since 1908, can be seen beneath the buffalo’s head.
Coin Value: Demand for these coins is very high and has caused shortages and premium prices for high grade slabbed coins.
