The obverse depicts a profile portrait representing Liberty facing left wearing a wreath and band inscribed with LIBERTY and long hair. Around the top edge is inscribed E PLURIBUS UNUM with the date on the bottom, 7 stars on the left edge and 6 stars on the right edge.
The reverse depicts an eagle with wings outstretched. perched on an olive branch and holding three arrows. The inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is along the top edge, with the motto “in God we trust” just below. * ONE DOLLAR* is on the bottom. The mint mark, if present, appears on the reverse above the “o” in “Dollar”.
