The Capped Bust (Turban Head) has a depiction of Liberty facing right . There were two variations of this design. The 1796 Type 1 has no stars on the obverse. The 1796-1807 Type 2 has stars on the obverse, 6 on the left and 7 on the right. The reverse was the same for both types, with a Eagle holding arrows and olive branch (representative of war and peace), UNITED STATES OF AMERICA in caps around the edge, 13 stars and E Pluribus Unum in a ribbon across the eagle’s neck.
Coin Values: Because of the very low mintage of these coins, all are rare. Those available are graded usually AU or less. A 1796 AU55 Gold $2.50 Draped Bust (Type1) sold for $90,000 while a 1805 AU55 Gold $2.50 Draped Bust (Type2) sold for $12,500
