The Grove Minting Company is a unique private mint that specializes in reproducing traditional American and European coins designs as commemorative tokens and medals. The boutique mint was founded by Jared Grove in 2011 in Ardmore, PA.

The encounter inspired Grove to launch his own mint with the mission to revive classic and obscure designs for the numismatic community. The Feuchtwnager cent was minted by Lewis Feuchtwanger in the 1830s and 1840s using German silver, an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc.  A commemorative medal of the Feuchtwanger cent was one of Grove Minting’s first releases.

The mint’s logo is the Grove family coat of arms. Grove traces his lineage back to Swiss-German ancestors whose descendants eventually migrated to Pennsylvania around the year 1700.

Reviews of Grove Minting Company

Grove-Minting-Private-MintAs Grove Minting is a relative newcomer to the minting industry that releases in low mintage numbers, there is a limited amount of quality of reviews online. Customers who have purchased directly from the Grove Minting Company have left many positive reviews stating that they were impressed with the minting quality and historical significance of the coin design. We feel that Grove Minting products are ideally suited for those with a strong interest in coin collecting.

Grove Minting Company’s Claim to Fame

Grove Minting has quickly made a name for itself, particularly among numismatists. As a dedicated coin enthusiast himself, the founder of the private mint was rewarded a patent in 2015 for developing software algorithms he developed to identify coins. The technology is still under development but could potentially be an extremely useful tool for the industry in the future.

Examples of Grove Minting Bullion

Here are a couple of examples of some of Grove Minting’s best known commemorative tokens that it has issued.

This token features St. George the Dragon Slayer. It is a reproduction of a thaler coin first minted in Friedberg, Germany in 1766. Unlike most other portrayals of George that typically show him in combat, the Friedberg Thaler features a victorious George facing forward over the body of the slain beast.

Below is a token commemorating the 40th anniversary of the 1977 Flowing Hair Liberty Dollar that was passed over by the government. It was designed by Frank Gasparro, the tenth Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. Instead, the mint adopted the Susan B. Anthony design. Grove Minting struck only 750 of these tokens in 2017.
