Prospector’s Gold and Gems

Prospector’s Gold & Gems is a full-service refiner and buyer of gold and silver bullion. The private mint, also commonly referred to as PG&G, was founded in 1999.

The Fort Collins, CO-based company refines silver and gold it purchases from a variety of sources including jewelers, pawn shops, mining companies, and coin shops.  It also provides fee-based refining of gold and silver upon request.

The private mint recycles gold and silver to produce an assortment of bullion products. It produces hand-poured silver bars ranging from 1 ounce to 100 ounces, and hand-poured gold bars from 1 ounce to 5 ounces. It also mints silver and gold rounds. On occasion the mint also sells gold nuggets in their natural form.

PG&G have received a number of rave reviews from customers online. Many customers praise the company or the unique appearance of their quality bars. The mint also gets high marks for having a knowledgeable staff and friendly customer service. The firm also received a good number of positive reviews from precious metal sellers who found PG&G’s prices to be fair and that the transaction handled with care.

Prospector’s Gold & Gems Claim to Fame

The private mint occasionally sells gold nuggets in their raw form, giving investor’s a rare opportunity to own collectible and interesting investment. Gold nuggets are not considered bullion, but can be melted down to become bullion. The company has a limited inventory and often sells out. The sale of gold nuggets lines up nicely with the company’s prospector motif, versions of which often appear on its rounds and bars.

Here is the company’s version of an American Prospector coin weighing 1/10 of an ounce. These special 10 year anniversary edition were limited to 300 pieces. They were struck to celebrate 10 years of minting the coin with Colorado-mined gold.
