Are alloys safe to wear?

Alloys themselves are not dangerous, however, alloys that contain nickel are known to cause skin irritation in those that are allergic to it. Certain kinds of white gold, especially 18k or less, are known to contain nickel, as well as many varieties of silver- and gold-plated jewelry.
