Was the Bretton Woods System Successful?
It was not. The Bretton Woods System promised to increase economic stability between the world’s nations but ended up removing the gold standard from the world’s currencies, decreasing stability. Because of this, the world’s currencies are no longer tied to a gold standard and are instead based upon speculation. The only benefit to come from the Bretton Woods System was the establishment of the IMF and World Bank.
