Are bullion coins legal tender?

While bullion coins were once accepted everywhere in the United States, only select states recognize bullion coins as legal tender. The federal government does not currently recognize bullion coins as legal tender. Under the federal government, bullion coins are commodities and are not accepted as payment.
States where bullion coins are recognized:
-Arizona
-Utah
-Kentucky
-Wyoming
-Texas
-Oklahoma
-Kansas
-Missouri
-Louisiana
-Tennessee
-Indiana
-South Carolina
All other states do not recognize gold bullion as legal tender.
