Is a gold IRA a good investment?
Gold IRAs are generally not considered good investment for a variety of reasons. There are usually costs associated with purchasing and storing the gold in your IRA, certain types of gold coins are prohibited among IRA holders, and you need a specialized gold IRA custodian to handle the account. That being said, the main benefit of an IRA is that it is a tax-deferred space, and the tax benefits that you receive from having stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds in your IRA does not carry over onto physical gold.
