How is the IMF governed?

The IMF is governed by the members of its board, which are members from 189 countries across the globe. The amount of power that each member is given is directly correlated to the amount of money they are expected to put towards the IMF every year, (i.e. their ‘quota). The USA has the largest quota and by far the most voting power at 16.52%, followed by Japan at 6.15%, China at 6.09%, Germany at 5.32%, and France at 4.03%.
