What does intaglio printing mean?

Intaglio printing is where the ink is held in the etched area of the plate. In this process, paper is ran over the intaglio plates, and the ink from the etched area of the plate is transferred onto the paper. This printing style is what is used in the manufacturing process of dollar bills.
