What does JS mean on a dime?

The JS on the face of the Roosevelt dime is the initials of the Mint’s Chief Engraver, John Sinnock, at the time of the coin’s design in 1946. During the Red Scare of the late 40’s and early 50’s, there was an urban legend that suggested that the JS stood for Joseph Stalin.
