What was Knox v. Lee?
Knox v. Lee was a case in 1871 in which the Supreme Court overruled the Hepburn v. Griswold verdict which declared that the Legal Tender Act violated the constitution. Under the new Knox v. Lee Act verdict, the printing of paper money by the US Government under the Legal Tender Act did not conflict with Article One of the United States Constitution.
