What are Military Payment Certificates?
Military Payment Certificates were a form of currency issued from 1946-1973 that could only be used by members of the U.S. military. These notes were brought into existence after an excess of US dollars found its way into post-WWII Europe, which threatened the recovering local economies. As MPCs were illegal for non-military persons to use, US currency was kept between military personnel.
