What does Non-Circulating Legal Tender (NCLT)?
Non-circulating legal tender refers to coins that could be used for legal tender but were never released on the market as such. In colloquial usage, this term generally refers commemorative coins that were made after 2006 that have unusual designs or shapes. These NCLT coins are usually minted in small batches and sold to tourists as ‘collectors’ items’, although it is unlikely that these coins will hold their value in the near future.
