Which wheat penny is worth the most?
The 1943 copper penny is the most valuable penny, ($100k+), as there are only 12 known to exist today. The reason for their rarity is the fact that copper was rationed during 1943 in order to support the war effort, and only steel pennies were meant to be minted that year. Another rare error, the 1944 steel penny, is also quite valuable, ($50k+). In both cases, if the quality is high enough, the coin may sell for $250k-$500k.
