What are Gold Eagles?

Gold bullion coins minted by the United States in 1986. Authorized under the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985. To differentiate between Eagle coins, the weight of gold in the coin is used when describing American Gold Eagles, e.g. “1/2-ounce American Gold Eagle.”
