What is Market Depth?

Describes the number of people buying compared to the number of people selling for any given market. More liquid commodities tend to have more sales. Therefore, large amounts of buyers do not affect the price. This scenario describes a “deep” market. Conversely, “shallow markets” are commodities that don’t trade as often and a sudden large amount of buyers impacts the price.
