What is Platinum Group?
Describes an elemental grouping of its own within the noble metals on the periodic table. Includes the elements ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium, and platinum, which are all considered precious metals on the market. Group is named for platinum, since platinum was first known to be used by pre-Columbian Americans. Just like the other noble metals such as gold or silver, metals within the platinum group are resistant to corrosion.
