Valcambi is recognized as the world’s largest precious metals refinery, and they are known primarily for their work in gold. Founded in 1961, the boutique mint is one of the three major precious metal mints that make up the bulk of Swiss gold production.

The company was originally named Valori & Cambi SA, but combined the two parts of its name to form Valcambi in 1967.

The mint is capable of producing 2,000 tonnes of precious metal bullion annually. It refines gold, silver, platinum and palladium into a full-range of high-quality bullion products including bars, rounds, coins and casting grain. Other services include transportation, reception, assaying, refining, manufacturing, financing and storage.

In July 2015, Valcambi was purchased by Rajesh Exports, an India-based firm that is the world’s largest gold jewelry retailer.  Valcambi continues to be operated in Switzerland by a local management team. Previous owners of the boutique mint include Credit Suisse, which owned the mint until 2003, and Newmont Mining which owned the mint until 2015.
